Over at his personal Tumblr, Ross talks about design, narrative structure, and why he really wished he had more time with an editor on this project.

Sponsor thanks: Ethical Strategies
When we decided to do And Now It’s In Print, we knew that it was going to cost us money to produce it. What we hoped was that other people would see that it was a worthwhile project, and chip in to help us out with it.
Ned, James and I all have great client-bases for our respective businesses, and we immediately set about asking our clients if they’d be interested in helping with...

On the night of the launch, we had a big list of people that we needed to thank. Sponsors, supporters, printers, volunteers, the venue…
Of course, in the buzz of the evening, I forgot the really important people –- the contributors who were kind enough to allow us to publish (or as someone said today ‘reverse-publish’) their original works.
So I want to do so now. The people listed...

Sponsor Thanks: Cricketers Arms Lager
Cricketers Arms Lager is a beer we hold close to our hearts at And Now It’s In Print. They’ve long been our beverage of choice for production meetings even before they came on board as a sponsor. Even longer before that they were James Noble of Carter Digital’s first client.
Cricketers Arms is a relatively young Victorian brewer focusing on using Australian ingredients to...

Can’t thank her anywhere near enough, but we’ll try. In the meantime, let it be known that we think Hannah is pretty much made from magic.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Thank you!
We’ve have had great enthusiam for our project, pre-sales have been spectacular!

Last chance to pre order!

Delivery imminent
Just had a call from the printers to let us know that the papers are in a truck and being delivered to the And Now It’s In Print Offices (in reality the Floate Design Partners studio).
We’ve had literally hundreds of RSVP’s for the launch and a large number of pre-sales – largely from people outside Australia. This is particularly gratifying to us. It’s wonderful to think...

So close we can taste it.
We’ll we’ve finally pushed through the wall after spending all weekend nailed to our desks. With tight self imposed deadlines we actually look like hitting. Its starting to feel real and we are very excited to see/review and revise our first draft.
Thanks so much for all the support and help from all involved, its been a great start to this journey.

ampahsand asked: How do we contribute/get a copy?
Progress.
We’ve been a bit quiet lately, so I figured it was time to give you an update on where we are. We’ve had so many great submissions that we’ve increased from 16 to 24 pages. This has been made possible because of the generous support of sponsors (who we’re totally going to plug a bit later on), and the fact that our launch date gave us a few days of breathing room.
So...

And now we're on the airwaves.
You can’t spend all your time on the internet. Sometimes you have to listen to people on the radio talk about being on the internet. Right?
Well then, we’re going to be on RRR FM (102.7, pop-kids) tonight talking about And Now It’s In Print on the Byte Into It show. Between 7 and 8 AEST.
Not in Melbourne? If you’re able to work out time differences (we’re in the...

One shortfall so far in submissions: visual art.
Hi everyone, thanks again for your interest.
We’re going through our submissions and preparing layout and production and we’re noticing something a little odd – not many submissions for people who draw, paint, cartoon, or take photographs.
And we’d really like some more.
If you have some late mail for us on this, let us know by emailing andnowitsinprint@gmail.com.
Thanks a...
Final call for submissions.
This is a reminder that we’re about to close content submissions for “And now it’s in print” so we can meet our deadline of a month to this thing to the printers.
We’ve already received a massive amount of suggestions for content as well as general support which is amazing. Thank you all so much.
That said there is no time to waste, tell us about someone you know...
How are we funding this?
A lot of people have been asking how we’re funding “And now it’s in print” considering that we will not be charging for the publication itself. The answer is that we’re mostly self-funding it at this stage. We’ve also received some support from a range of other people who get what we’re trying to do and are happy to help make it happen.
We’re also...

Things move fast.
Since Ned and I first discussed the idea of And Now It’s In Print, just over a week has passed. We’ve told everyone we can about the idea, and have been very gratified by the response. People have offered financial support. Some wonderfully talented people have agreed to be involved and to allow us to print their work. Other people have joined the team, volunteering their time and...

The Tumblr Directory is a great way for a project like ours to get some rapid exposure, and generate the interest that it needs to be successful. If you were so inclined to help us, that would be very much appreciated.
You’re awesome. I really like what you’re wearing, too.
Edit: Thanks everyone! We made it. Your hair totally smells nice, too.

From my other blog:
What we thought we were paying for in newspapers was all the news that was in them. In fact, the main role of the newspaper was to decide what to leave out.

About a year ago Chris Aucutt wrote this wonderful post entitled Culture Engines. Ostensibly about a particular group of early-adopter users of Twitter, it has a lot to say about the development of ideas and culture.
Turns out, the smarts needed to get noticed on Favrd accurately picked out people who aren’t afraid of ‘wasting’ time making funny or entertaining things for their friends*. What’s...
What we'd like to see in print.
Ross wrote an earlier post about the kinds of things he’d like to see in print but I thought I’d include a couple of my recent favourites.
This is just a guide as we’re open to publish just about anything from tweets to animated gifs.
Three standout pieces that are great:
Tait Ischia’s short piece on the judgement of stranger: Stranger’s Thoughts. Rohan Newman...

A question answered.
PiscesInPurple asked:
You must have some general vision for this publication. What kind of stuff are you looking for?
Thanks for your question. My feeling is that there are people creating work in all kinds of genres, and that many of those people are just waiting to break out to a more broad audience if they got noticed. For example, I think Ellie Won who writes Kitchen Wench is a great...

Seth Godin on "And now it's in print"
Earlier this month Seth Godin posted an article titled “Micro magazines and a future of media” which almost describes what we’re trying to do with “And now it’s in print” minus the whole “making money” schtick.
buyhercandy asked: Is there a way to submit/suggest things, yet?
tj asked: So are you just looking for content *from* Australians?
